Dialog Telekom website for SME entrepreneurs
Dialog Telekom PLC in collaboration with the International Finance
Corporation has launched a new website called "SME toolkit", which will
support small and medium scale entrepreneurs for their business
development. This initiative is funded by the International Finance
Corporation (IFC) which is a member of the World Bank.

The "SME toolkit' is now combined with the Viyapara Diriya workshop
series, one of the most effective supply chain empowerment programs
initiated by Dialog Telekom PLC.
Dialog Viyapara Diriya entrepreneur training workshops, was launched
in 2007. The principal objective of this endeavour is to offer knowledge
and training in business management for small and medium enterprises (SME)
in Sri Lanka. The participants for this program have been selected from
the retail network of Dialog Telekom, across the country.
The launching ceremony of the 'SME toolkit' was inaugurated at the
Hotel Tangerine Beach, Kalutara. Arata Onoguchi, Operations Officer of
IFC, Bastian Mohrmann, Principal Investment Officer of IFC, and Asela
Dissanayake Operation Officer of IFC were the guests of honour. The
ceremony was attended by over 50 retailers, who have played an active
role in the Viyapara Diriya, initiative alongside several other
officials of Dialog Telekom.
Senior General Manager (Distribution Services) of Dialog Telekom
Pradeep Keerthirathne said, "we have already held 148 workshops for
members of Viyapara Diriya and over 1500 retailers have participated in
these workshops.
Operation Officer of IFC Asela Dissanayake, said that the SME toolkit
will be of benefit to the SME in Sri Lanka.
"The SME toolkit is currently offered as a free on-line resource to
business owners in over 27 countries and regions. SMEs are the dominate
contributor to our economy, and is considered the backbone of the
country.
Kanchana Devapriya, who has been an active member of Viyapara Diriya
since its beginning, said that under the guidance of Viyapara Diriya he
could develop his business as well as his personal life. |
