Sri Lanka wins bid to hold CACCI conference in 2010
The joint project proposal submitted by the Ceylon Chamber of
Commerce, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sri Lanka
backed by Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) won the bid to organise the
24th Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI)
Conference and the Council meeting in year 2010 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This decision was taken at the 22nd CACCI Conference held recently in
Manila, Philippines.

This is an important event for Sri Lanka hence the direct involvement
of SLCB in the bidding process, said the Chairman of SLCB Prema Cooray.
'Such prestigious conference, apart from its economic merits, gives an
immense boost to Sri Lanka's image abroad, when the news gets around
that Sri Lanka will be hosting the 24th sessions.
In addition, Sri Lankan MICE industry will have a great opportunity
to prove to the world the prevailing international standards of holding
events and the unmatchable service in hospitality during the delegates'
stay in Sri Lanka.
'The Bureau will ensure that the Chambers will receives its fullest
support' from the Government through the SLCB', Cooray said.
On the request of the Sri Lankan delegation from the Chambers,
Minister of Export Development and International Trade, Prof. G. L.
Peiris attended the Conference as a resource person on the Session on
Sustaining Asia - Pacific Economic Dynamism through Public-Private
Partnerships.
The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI)
is a regional organisation composed mostly of apex Chambers of Commerce
and Industry and Business Associations representing the interest of
business enterprises in 25 countries.
Established in 1966, it aims to provide a forum for examining,
crystallising and consolidating economic thinking of Asian and Western
Pacific enterprises and promoting intra-regional trade and investments.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Chambers of
Commerce and Industry are Primary Members of CACCI. |
