Chamber to felicitate Aloy Jayawardene
The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry (SLCSI) will celebrate its
45th anniversary at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla tomorrow. Prime
Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will be the Chief Guest. Five other
Ministers and members of Parliament will be present.

The Small Chamber will honour and felicitate Aloy Jayawardene at
these celebrations. An illustrious individual, a founder member of the
All Ceylon Small Industries Association set up in 1963 later transformed
into the Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry. He is the only member to
hold membership these 45 years.
His enthusiastic endeavour in the advanced progressing of this
institution was honoured with promotion in tandem, as Hony. Assistant
Secretary, in 1964, Hony. Secretary General 1968-1971. Vice president
from 1971-1973 and elevated to the Presidency from 1973-1978.
He was called back by the membership in the year 2000, to head the
Chamber and continues to date as President.
He is regarded as the youngest person to hold this reputable
Presidentship from 1973-1978.
He held the Presidency of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, the Apex Body of the private sector from 1985-1987. The Small
and Medium Enterprise Development program (SMED) was his brainchild
which gave an impetus to the Federation.
