Union Assurance brings honour again to Lanka

Union Assurance PLC (UA) has firmly etched itself into the annals of the annual South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Awards again by winning the Overall Award for Best Presented Accounts, the apex accolade at the awards ceremony in New Delhi.

CEO of Union Assurance Marina Tharmaratnam accepted the SAFA Award, which is considered a benchmark among companies in the South Asian Region. Being one of the foremost insurers in Sri Lanka, UA also proved its mettle further by winning the topmost award in the Insurance sector, which was accepted by Deputy Chief Executive Dirk Pereira.

Currently in its 21st year of operation, UA has steadily and consistently ensured leadership in quality, standards, values and ethics, permeated these to the entire industry.

Tharmaratnam said that winning the award yet again was certainly a reward for the best practices infused over the years, "We have thus brought honour to Sri Lanka, by winning not simply the top sectoral award but the overall one as well, twice over.

We are proud to have placed Sri Lanka on the map again, competing against some of the better known and highly prestigious companies, especially from India and Pakistan and being adjudged the best. As can be seen from our performance over the years, the awards we have won from SAFA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka over time is ample testimony to our consistent and unswerving tenets and principles.

We have continued to improve on our performance, our systems, processes, products and most importantly on governance, which to us remains at the apex of our business.
