Sri Lanka and Rome enjoy close relations for a long time.

Direct flights between Rome and Sri Lanka will auger well to strengthen mutual relations between the two countries, said Deputy Aviation Minister, Sarath Gunaratne.

He was speaking at a press briefing to mark the inauguration of regular flights between the two countries. He said under the new management the SriLankan Airlines has begun to steer through a new course.
