Samantha Kumarasinghe - Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of the Year 2007

Samantha Kumarasinghe, Chairman, Nature’s Secrets Cosmetics Multichemi Ltd., makers of internationally famed Nature’s Secrets Cosmetics Brands was adjudged the Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 and presented with the Platinum Award at an awards ceremony at the BMICH. Ms Leonie M. Cuelenaere, The Netherlands’s Ambassador in Sri Lanka was the Chief Guest.

Ruwan Edirisinghe, Managing Director, RN Construction (Pvt.) Ltd won the National Gold Award. W. Leslie Bernard Perera, Managing Director, Leslie’s Agro Products (Pvt) Ltd was declared the Young Entrepreneur of the Year while Ms. Chandrika Silva, Partner, Sirisara Vilasitha was declared the National Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.

Kumarasinghe in accepting the coveted trophy said that the bank lending rates are high and that affects business and industry. He said that the Central Bank should intervene to reduce the rates.

He called upon the President, FCCISL to lobby the Central Bank in mitigating this great burden.Kosala Wickramanayake, President, FCCISL, welcoming the guests said that the ultimate objective is to recognise the innovations, endeavour and application towards reaching new heights of excellence in the small, medium, large and extra large categories of enterprises in the country.

He said that Entrepreneur Competition is unusual in uniqueness in covering the entire country.

This enables those who have achieved greater standards in product development and entrepreneur ability at different levels and in the different districts of the country to gain recognition.
