UPFA to hold 40 PC election rallies
Ministers to lead campaigns:

Forty Major election rallies, six presided over by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa will be held in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kurunegala, Matale and
Puttalam districts during the election campaign of the forthcoming
Central and North Western Provincial Council elections, Transport
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told Sunday Observer.
Six senior Ministers, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Maithripala Sirisena,
Susil Premajayanth, W. D. J. Seneviratna, Kumar Welgama and Pavithra
Devi Wanniarachchi will be leading the election campaign in Kurunegala,
Kandy Puttalam, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts for the two provincial
councils, he said.
Eleven major rallies will be held under the patronage of Prime
Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake and the other 23 rallies will be held
under the leadership of the leaders of the UPFA and ministers, he said.
Minister Susil Premajayanth, General Secretary UPFA said all relevant
parties including the organisers were briefed about the campaign
strategy.
They will be placed in the two provinces to manage the election
campaign from today, he said.
