Peterites rout Bens

CRICKET: Off spinner Angelo Perera, with a match bag of 7 wickets for 100 runs bowled St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya to a comprehensive nine wicket victory over St. Benedict's College, Kotahena at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

When play resumed the Peterite bowlers mopped up the Benedictine tail claiming the last three wickets for two runs as the visitors folded up for 129 giving the homesters a first innings lead of 124 runs.

Off spinner Angelo Perera claimed 3 wickets for 50 runs and Vinod Perera 2 for 10.

Following on, St. Benedict's once again folded up for 137 just averting an innings defeat with S. Sampath (42) and N. Fonseka (31) being the main contributors with the bat.

The left-armer Angelo Perera proved too much for the Benedictine batsmen as he followed up his first innings haul of 3 for 50 with 4 for 50 in the second essay.

Sampath again top scored for the Benedictines with 32.
