HSBC - table tennis champs

TABLE TENNIS: Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Corporation table tennis team performed best, winning the 'My Lady Trophy' and Inter Club Knock-out Tournament 2008. The matches were worked off at the S. Thomas' College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia.

The team emerged champions of the two tournaments beating eight teams and went on to win the 'My Lady Trophy'.

This was the first ever representation of a HSBC table tennis contingent to the tournament and they are bound to go places in the 2009 tournaments.

HSBC defeated Sri Lanka Airlines in the final 3-1 for the 'My Lady Trophy' tournament. HSBC won both the 'A' and 'B' division titles in the inter-club knock-out tournament. HSBC 'A' team beat Dialog GSM 'A' team in the final 3-0 and their 'B' side defeated Unilever 'A' in the finals 3-1.

The winning HSBC team comprised: Tharu Silva, Kavindra Attanayake, Sherina Hussain, Dimuth Warushavithana (capt).
