AGM of Schools Rugby Jan.14
RUGBY: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka
Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) for 2009, has been fixed for
January 14 (Wednesday), its incumbent President Punyadasa Kuruppu told
Sunday Observer. He said the AGM will be held at Isipathana Maha
Vidyalaya auditorium.
Asked of plans set forth by the game's controlling body for schools
rugby ahead of the 2009 rugby season, Punyadasa Kuruppu, the present
President of the Schools stressed that it was their intention to
conclude the Singer League Tournament by around June, having started the
matches prior to the Sinhala-Tamil New Year in April.
It is also extended to complete the Milo President's Trophy Knock-out
Tournament by the end of July this year.
The SLSRFA President also vowed to convince all major rugby-playing
schools on the importance of playing in the knock-out tournament this
year. This tourney has been badly neglected in the recent past with many
leading schools withdrawing due to various reasons.
"We intend to go all out to help Nestle Lanka get the maximum
possible mileage by getting all top school teams to contest the
President's Trophy and teams which do not comply will be dealt with
accordingly" he said. J.K. |
