The `EDEX' Exhibition committee of Royal College Union expects over
100,000 participants at their annual skills development and career
guidance program which will be held at the BMICH from January 23 to 25.
`Empowering Youth to be Globally Competitive' is the theme of the
three-day exhibition. In addition, another exhibition for the benefit of
skills development and vocational training seekers in Kandy will be held
at Queens Hotel on January 27 and 28.
Speaking to Sunday Observer `EDEX', Chairman, Kamal Abeysinghe said
that over 250 universities from the USA, UK, Australia, Singapore,
Russia, Japan, Bangladesh, India, China, Nepal, Switzerland, France, New
Zealand and Malaysia will make their representation at this year`s
program.
"Our main objective is to make school leavers, students,
undergraduates and also unemployed youth in the country to be aware of
higher education opportunities available and also to develop their
skills through vocational training," he said. Sunday Observer, Daily
News and the MTV are the media partners, while Sri Lanka Telecom, Singer
Sri Lanka and Brandix are the official sponsors of both exhibitions.
Abeysinghe also invited parents of students to participate at the
exhibition and attend career guidance programs since they too must know
how to guide their children in their future educational activities as
well as to guide them in choosing a career.
He said all participants will get an opportunity to have personal
discussions with local and foreign officials of higher education
institutes and universities.
