More benefits for minor accounts holders

Sampath Bank the indigenous bank of Sri Lanka has enhanced the benefits given to its minor savings account holders, said Manager Marketing upul nawaratna bandara The bank launched a special promotion scheme for the two minor accounts named Sampath Sapiri and Sampath Pubudu in December and it will end on January 31. All existing account holders and new account holders are eligible for school books, stationery and shoes under this scheme. He said that the gifts given by the bank are more than 50 per cent of the existing balance and this is the banks contribution to our future leaders and this promotion will be conducted every year so that parents of minor account holders of Sampath Bank need not worr ments.

The gift scheme has three slabs it is Rs. 1000, 2500 and Rs. 5000. A child who has Rs. 1000 in the account will receive a gift pack worth 50 per cent. A child who has Rs. 2500 will receive a gift pack of Rs. 1500 while a child who has Rs. 5000 will receive a gift pack of Rs. 2500 which includes books stationery and a voucher for Rs. 1200 to purchase shoes.

Any child who has an account or plans to open a account will receive these gifts at any of the 113 branches around the country.

He said that already plans are afoot to implement the scheme in a grand scale next year.

He said that due to the demand the bank has ordered more stationery to be given as gifts.

Nawaratne Bandara said that Sampath Sapiri is considered as the account which gives the highest interest rate among the banks.

The age limit for Sampath Pubudu accounts holders is 18 years.

The bank gives the normal interest rate and the bonus interest rate while there are gifts as well. We are improving the gifts and very exciting gifts are lined up for Sampath Pubudu accounts. The bank has more than 125,000 minor accounts and it is still growing.
