Antonians crush Mahanama by nine wickets

Left-arm spinner Adil Reyal returned a match bag of 8 for 126 to
spearhead St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota to a nine wicket win over
Mahanama College, Colombo in an inter-school cricket match played at
Katugastota yesterday.
The Antonians were set a victory target of 88 in 23 overs and they
won with five overs to spare.
Adil Reyal who has been among the wickets in almost every match has
now reached 50 wickets for the season and has been largely responsible
with bat and ball for the four outright wins the Antonians have scored
this season.
In the first innings Adil Reyal captured 3 for 40 followed up 5 for
86 in the second after Mahanama College had decided to dug up and he did
the next best thing to buy up the wickets.
The Antonians in their run chase had to face some tight bowling by
Mahanama, but Kasun Ekanayake 40 not out and Mahinda Perera 24 not out
on 52 runs in an unbroken stand for the second wicket in even time to
ensure victory. In the first innings Mahinda top scored with 75.
St. Anthony’s College: 263 for 7 decl. and 89 for 1 in 18 overs (Hiran
Wickremasekera 15, Kasun Ekanayake 40 not out, Mahinda Perera 24 not
out).
Mahanama College 91 for 6 overnight cotinued 141 all out in 47 overs
(N. Dharmawardene 32, R. Welisannage 33, Adil Reyal 3 for 40, Sahan
Palihakkara 3 for 31, Kasun Ekanayake 2 for 14) and 209 all out in 62.5
over (R. Welisannage 33, S. Ruberu 38, D. Gunathillake 22, S. Perera 27,
H. Kaluarachchi 41, L. Weerakoon 27, Adil Reyal 5 for 86, Kasun
Ekanayake 3 for 45).
Wesley force a draw

Wesley College fought back gallantly to hold Kingswood College to a
honourable draw in the P. H. Nonis Trophy cricket encounter against
Kingswood College at the University Grounds, Peradeniya yesterday.
In reply to Kingswood’s first innings total of 282, Wesley were
struggling at 39 for 3 at stumps on the first day.
But yesterday they made a fine recovery through Javith Bonso 66 (4
fours), Dulanjan Wijesinghe 56 (3 fours, 2 sixes) and D. E. Dissanayake
47 7 fours) they total 232 all out.
Kingswoodian in their second innings made 131 for 3 with Madawa
Maduranga scoring 84 with 9 fours.
Kingswood College 282 all out and 131 for 3 with in 35 overs (Madawa
Maduranga 84, C. M. Kumarasiri 25 not out, Ashan Senaviratne 17).
Wesley College: 39 for 3 wkts overnight continued 232 all out in 94.3
overs (Javith Bonso 66, Dulanjan Wijesinghe 56, Dinuwan Dissanayake 47,
C. Dharmaprema 3 for 82, A. Senaviratne 3 for 28).
Kegalu Vidyalaya in 172 run win

A good allround performance by Roshan Arvinda Weerasinghe who scored
an aggressive 84 with 12 fours off only 65 balls and also captured a
match haul of 9 for 63 with his leg spinning played a major role in
Kandy Vidyalaya’s 172 run win over P. de S. Kularatne Maha Vidyalaya,
Ambalangoda in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match concluded
at Public grounds Kegalle yesterday.
Chalintha Weerasinghe who batted well to score 115 not out with 17
hits to the ropes and one over it off 144 balls and this knock helped
Kegalu Vidyalaya to declare at 299 for 3 off 47.3 overs in their second
innings.
P. de S. Kularatne MV who were dismissed for 82 in the first innings
fared a little better in their second innings in scoring 195 all out but
this could not prevent them from defeat.
