SLT wins Convergence Trophy twenty20 matches

CRICKET: Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, competed against each other at the Convergence Trophy Twenty20 cricket tournament recently at Bloomfield grounds at Reid Avenue.

The main objective behind the tournament was the strengthening of relationship among the employees through the sportsmanship of 'Twenty20' cricket.

The limited over cricket tournament had both companies playing two matches head to head in 'A' and 'B' categories. SLT won both matches by 33 runs and by three wickets respectively against Mobitel 'A' and 'B' teams.

Speaking on the significant of the tournament, Mr. Kiththi Perera, President of SLT Cricket Association said, "As a corporate entity, SLT firmly believes in the merging of business and sport as it helps to further promote the values of competitiveness and team spirit. During the past few years, both SLT and Mobitel cricket teams have met for friendly matches annually.

The fellowship and good sportsmanship has gone a long way in uniting people from both companies and depicts exactly what we are trying to achieve in promoting a life beyond the workplace."

The Convergence Trophy Cricket Tournament is a result of the teamwork between the officials from both cricket associations and their efforts in organising a carnival atmosphere to intereact with each other outside the work environment. The aim is to continue the tournament as an annual event.
