Paintings and sculptures exhibition

Ethnic conflict and its consequences deeply moved young Akila Mahagedara and today as an amateur artist he wishes to show the world his inner feelings about our national conflict. In "Fantasy" show, he takes us to a distant world where sketches and sculptures predict deeper feelings and emotions.

His art exhibition was opened by Basnayaka Nilame Chamila Dilan Konara, Historical temple of Sri Delgamuwa Rajamaha Viharaya on February 20 at 6.30 p.m. at the Alliance Francaise de Kandy, 642, Peradeniya Road, Kandy.

Both paintings and sculptures are on display for general public from February 21- February 27, from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

His first `guru' was veteran artist Kingsley Gunatillake who guided Akila to become an accomplished artist. A few years ago Akila had his first art exhibition in Kandy. He worked as a Graphic designer, and an animator. He also worked as an Assistant Art Director in a teledrama called "Samanalunta Vedithiyanna" and became an Art Director.
