Feast of St. Anne's Church, Talawila

The feast of St. Anne's Church, Talawila will be held on March 8 under the patronage of Bishop of Chilaw Rt. Rev. Dr. Valens Mendis and the former Bishop of Chilaw Rt. Rev. Dr. Frank Marcus and the Additional Bishop of Trincomalee and Batticaloa Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah.

There will be a special bus service from Colombo to Palaviya for the benefit of Catholic worshippers, and railway tickets will be issued from CGR counters set up at the premises of St. Anne's Church.


Communist Party meeting

Constitutional Affairs and National Integration Minister, D. E. W. Gunesekera will be the chief guest at a meeting today at 10 a.m. at Sugeeswara hall, Borella in support of the Community Party candidate for Western Provincial Council, Mahesh Almeida. Similar meetings will be held in support of candidates, Communist Party deputy organiser L. R. Steven said.

SAARC painting exhibition Independence Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Minister of State for External Affairs of India, E. Ahamed nips the ribbon to open the SAARC painting exhibition at the National Art Gallery, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7 last Friday. The event was organised by the Indian Cultural Centre. Cultural Affairs Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Foreign Affairs Minister Rohitha Bogollagama also participate in the ceremony.
