
‘Dancing Star’, the movie, Sirasa TV’s
maiden cinematic creation hit the CEL circuit theaters recently.
According
to channel head Susara Dinal Dancing Star is the first film to be
produced by a television channel based on one of their popular reality
shows. Packed with a star studded cast lead by title holder of `Sirasa
Dancing Stars’, Season One, Dushyanth Weeraman and the charismatic
Roshan Ranawana, the production introduces Shiroshi Romeshika to cinema.
Other key players taking part in the tale include Ravindra Randeniya,
Malini Fonseka, Sanath Gunatileke, Nilanthi Dias, Srilal Ahangama,
Lakshman Mendis, Pubudu Chathuranga, Hashini Gonagala, Vishaka
Siriwardena, Sarath Kothalawala, Ramani Siriwardena, Nirosha Perera,
Paristha Nayani Dula, Priyantha Wijesinghe and Faizal Burah. Rosy
Senanayake and Sabeetha Perera portray their real life roles as members
of the jury.
The story revolves around a tale of the emergence of young talent in
the backdrop of a moving love story. It explores the opportunities the
youth gets to display their skills while focusing on topics like class
divisions and youth aspirations.
Shiroshi
is a talented young dancer emerging out of an urban neighbourhood. Her
route from the backwaters to the glitz and glamour of stardom takes many
a twist and turn. Her unexpressed emotions for fellow dancer and singer,
Dushyanth, remain just that; unexpressed.
Fate would have it that her skill is noted by Dunuwila played by
experienced actor, Ravindra Randeniya. He sees immense potential in the
young performer. While Dushyanth remains behind, Shiroshi is swept off
into a life of glamour.
The story shifts into a battle of love and trust. Roshan, a young
dancer, pairs up with Shiroshi in her performance only to fall in love.
He has eyes only for Shiroshi despite the intentions of competitor
Nilanthi, craves for Roshan’s affection.
In his attempt to groom Shiroshi into stardom, Dunuwila experiences
the full force of social stigmas which look down upon the middle aged
man and his platonic love for a young dancer. His wife, played by
veteran actress Malini Fonseka, fumbles as she tries to come to terms
with her husband’s intentions. Will Shiroshi emerge as a winner? Who
will be able to win over their ladylove’s hand? Only time will tell.
The
movie is directed by Susara Dinal and co-directed by Aruna Jayawardena.
Sumith Prasannalal is the director of photography. Waruna Karunarathe
is the assistant director, Jeewantha Devapriya is the editor, Lalith
Wasantha the audio designer, Doric Samarasundara the art director and
set designer, Viraj Weliwatte the production designer, Malki Wijemanne
the costume designer and Thushan Sanjeewa Karunaratne the production
manager. Sisil Ratnayake, Prasanna Hewawasam and Senaka Karunaratne are
the graphic designers and Nimal Subasinghe together with Saleem Mohammed
handled the make up. The screen play is by Susara Dinal and Aruna
Jayawardena.
Music duo Bathiya and Santhush handled the music while Uresha
Ravihari, Amila Perera, Shihan Mihiranga and Bathiya Jayakody rendered
their voices for the songs. The audiography and DTS mix was done at (CHANDRU)
Prasad studio, Chennai. The DI Colourist is Prashant Dhotre while the
digital intermediate is by EFX Mumbai. Dancing Star is a MBC Networks (Pvt)
