Permanent jobs for 302

Letters of permanent appointment were given to 302 temporary and casual employees of the Department of Archaeology (DA) at a function held at the National Museum auditorium Colombo last Tuesday.

The Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena addressing the function said people depended on the Archaeology Department to know their past and for research activities as the department conserved the ancient sites and artifacts for historical research.

He said the public sector contributed immensely to protect national resources by the various services. Dr. Sriyan Deraniyagala former Director General, W. D. Kularatne Director and Nimal Perera Deputy Director were also present at the function.
