How would you feel about
participating in a youth leadership campaign? You may really be sick of
being seated for long hours, listening to discussions and lectures.
Actually this is not the same at every leadership campaign.
The chapter (Club) of Gampaha district, which was the most
outstanding club for past four years under the Junior Chamber
International, Sri Lanka organised something unique, so you would never
resent the idea of attending a youth campaign.
The Youth Leadership Academy 2009(YOLA 2009), organised a management
training and leadership development on January 31 and February 1 at
Belihuloya. It covered many exciting events where more than 30 youth
leaders participated. It included all sort of games which helped them to
develop their confidence.
It consisted of trekking games, in other words, a treasure hunt in
which they had to find five clues to get to the grand treasure. It took
the participants 4-5 hours and gave them leadership experience.
Strategic
eggs was a game that all participants had to take part in. They had to
swim across a river. It was an exciting event as each of them had to do
kayaking to the other side of the river. More than anything else, they
had to build a raft out of barrels, planks and rope within a given time.
Finally, high rope activities were organised as an adrenalin pumping
activity and they completed the seven layer high rope activity course
with the flying fox activity at the end of the event.
At the end of the program they were given a briefing on how to
enhance their leadership and management skills.
The Leadership Development Organisation is a voluntary organisation
with operations in 105 countries.
