Bharatha Natyam

Hiruni Sawanika Vidanapathirana will be staging her maiden show on Bharatha Natyam at the Provincial Council Auditorium, Kurenegala on March 28.

She has been learning this divine art under the Guru Natyabhooshana Sri Jayantha Kumara Karunasekera. Hiruni will be the 59th student of her Guru.

The chief guest will be Prof. Carlo Fonseka, Chairman, National Authority of Tobacco and Alcohol. She has shown her enthusiasm on this dancing since she was about 5 years old. Within a small period of time, she has come to a level to hold the maiden show.

Apart from dancing, she excels in other extra curricular activities. Arts is one of them. Last month in this year, she held her first solo art exhibition, "Hiru Sita Roo" which was a grand success and a massive encouragement for the little Hiruni.

Hiruni is studying at Grade 4 at Ceylinco Sussex College, Kuliyapitiya. She is the only daughter of Dr. Kamal Vidanapathirana and Dr. (Mrs.) Kumudu Perera, Senior Lecturers at the Wayamba University.
