Public Services Club, Kandy celebrates 63rd anniversary

SPORTS: The Public Services Sports Club, Kandy celebrated its 63rd
anniversary in a fitting manner at the clubhouse. The club was formed in
1946 by the then government agent of Kandy Sir Richard Aluwihare.
The activities of the club for the year 2009: Indoor games - (carrom,
Bridge (auction and contract),
Table Tennis, Draughts, Walking Races for various age groups,
Six-a-side annual cricket tournament and the annual fixture with Old
Trinitians Sports Club).
Two old members - J. Alexander 81 years - (a veteran table tennis
player - an old boy of Kingswood College) and Berty Weerasinghe 80 years
(champion Bridge player - an old boy of Dharmaraja College, he was also
a fine soccer player) were felicitated. Deva Amunugama - a former
vice-president of the club and a cricketer produced by Trinity College
who will migrate to USA soon, was also felicitated.

Kulatunge is telling Deva Amunugama who will leave for the
United States of America shortly. |
