A giant pyramid sits in the middle of Hilton Colombo Lobby displaying
the works of children from the Deaf and Blind School, Ratmalana. Over
200 giant eggs painstakingly sculpted and colourfully hand-painted by
differently-abled children, speak volumes for their creativity and their
desire for expression.
This unique and innovative concept provides a magnificent opportunity
for these children to showcase their inherent talents while it serves as
a means of raising funds for their upkeep.
Jerome Auvity, General Manager, Hilton Colombo, said that they feel
happy to initiate and continue commitment with The Ceylon School for the
Deaf and Blind as their Corporate Social Responsibility partner. "We
congratulate the children on their spontaneous expressions of abundant
latent talents", he said.
When the work of art of any child is hand-picked for purchase, the
happiness they derive will mould a positive attitude towards the society
they live in and will remain unforgettable in their little minds. "This
is an `eggstravagant' opportunity for Hilton clientele and well-wishers
to get involved and feel good this Easter, looking beyond celebrations
and festivities", he said.
In order to raise funds, these children's beautifully crafted work
will be on sale. Anyone could purchase any number of these decorative
and colourful eggs making a pledge at Fine Things counter.
All are encouraged to contribute their might to this unique effort
this Easter. The eggs have been numbered for convenience and could be
collected on the eve of April 12 or even before on request. |
