Libya offers $ 500 million plus 100,000 jobs:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was on a three day official visit to
Libya returned to the island yesterday.
During the visit he met Libyan Head of State Colonel Muammar Gaddafi,
Prime Minister Dr. Baghdadi Ali Al Mahmudi and other leaders. Besides
the bilateral talks between the Sri Lankan delegation and the Libyan
leaders President Rajapaksa also had a one-to-one meeting with Libyan
Leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
During the visit two MoUs were signed
between Sri Lanka and Libya on political consultation and on economic
cooperation between the two countries. In addition, another MoU was
signed between the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and its Libyan
counterpart. Libya agreed to provide a financial co-operation package of
US $ 500 million and 100, 000 job opportunities in Libya for Sri Lankans,
mainly in construction, health services and information technology
sectors. |
