Warning! Warning! Be prepared to deal with Dragonball (Evolution)
this time around as it hits Liberty Cinema from the month of April.
Based on the popular Japanese manga series, DBE tells the story of Goku
(Justin Chatwin) and his quest for the seven Dragonballs - crystals
spheres that give whoever possesses all of them unbridled power, not the
reproductive bits of giant fire-breathing lizards - before the evil Lord
Piccolo (James Marsters) can get his dirty little hands on them.James
Wong (Final Destination, The X-Files: Fight the Future) was very
concerned with keeping true to the manga while making it generic enough
to attract new fans.
"There are a lot of people who love the original (manga)," said Wong.
"But I think it's important to be able to show Dragonball to a different
audience that doesn't know anything about it. I think this will be a
great introduction to the manga and they'll appreciate it as much as I
do.
" The 53-year-old added that while he is best known for his action
roles, he doesn't mind acting in films of any genre."It's the same - the
paycheque is the same," he quipped to much laughter. Equally the
comedian, despite his rather serious demeanour throughout the press
conference, was 26-year-old Chatwin.
"I had a whole bunch of really great experiences making the movie,
but I learned that if we could really, really learn how to focus, we can
shoot fire out of our hands, too. But you have to really, really focus,"
deadpanned the actor, who played Tom Cruise's annoying teenage son in
War of the Worlds.
His co-star Marsters, on the other hand, was very animated,
especially when talking about (a) how not to be afraid of fear, (b) how
to be a man, and (c) how much he loved fighting with Chatwin, because
the latter was focused on his work.
Australia and Slumdog Millionaire going to rock Majestic!
Two hot flicks that have made the silver screen happening are making
waves in Sri Lanka. The romantic epic starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh
Jackman will bring action and thrills to Australia and that Oscar
winning hit Slumdog Millionaire will thrill movie patrons everywhere.
The true connection between the movie has already made an impact
where Slumdog Millionaire actress Rubina Ali can now add Nicole Kidman
to her list of co-stars. The eight-year-old actress, who starred as the
young Latika in the Oscar-winning movie, spent three days shooting a
soft drinks ad with the Australia star. Filmed in India, the ad is
directed by Body of Lies director Ridley Scott.
Rubina's family, who still live in the slums of Mumbai, hope her new
found fame will lead to a better life for all of them.Dad Rafiq Ali
says, "We are very proud of her and hope she continues to become a big
star. "Maybe then we will be able to live in a proper house.
She was paid more for the ad than the movie."
