Well-known director of ‘Sankranthi’ and `Davala Duvili’ fame, Anuruddha Jayasinghe had titled his third cinematic venture as `Bomba Saha Rosa’ (Bombs and Roses).

“I hope to bring a novel experience to the audience with my new creation. The story is based on a series of incident which unfold in the city after a bomb blast. It includes a chapter in the life of a number of individuals from different layers in society. They are all affected by the incident despite rank or status but they all undergo the same or similar experience of pain and sorrow due to the impact of the bomb.

`Bombs’ symbolize terrorism and destruction while `roses’ reflect innocence and romance. The plot is a combination of the two,” Anuruddha explained the theme of his movie. Another notable fact in connection with the project is that there are no significant central characters in the story. Each character emerges during an incident but as soon as the scene shifts to another character eclipses the other.

However, Anuruddha said that the roles portrayed by Upeksha Swarnamali, Bimal Jayakody and Mahendra Perera are ones to watch out for. Vishvanath Kodikara who entered cinema through his portrayal of the late vocalist H.R. Jothipala in Roy de Silva’s `Sada Adara Jothi’ (Ever loving Jothi), a project yet to be screened in theatres, also plays a significant role in the movie.

The rest of the cast includes Jayani Senanayake, Dharshana Dharmaraj, Suminda Sirisena, Sarath Kothalawala, Udayanthi Kulathunga, Kumara Thirimadura, Tharindu Wijesinghe, Somadasa Alakolanga, Sriyani Amarasena and others. `Bomba Saha Rosa’ is produced by Eric Makawita and Lucky Imran.

The camera is handled by Channa Deshapriya while the art director is Jagath Imbulpe. Priyantha Fernando is the assistant director, Priyantha Sirikumara the make-up artist and Raja Ranasinghe the production executive.

Kelum Srimal penned the lyrics for which Ranga Dassanayake composed music. Amal Perera had rendered his voice for the background vocals. Ranesh Nanayakkara is the editor, Sudath Silva and Ajantha Ranasinghe manage the production coordination, Charith Wickramatilleke the costume designer and Chaminda Meemenege is the production manager. The film is shot in areas within the Colombo region and is looking towards being released at the end of the year.
