Walter Ranasinghe makes improvements to Public Service Club

ENERGETIC SECRETARY: The General Secretary of the Public Service
Sports Club in Kandy - Walter Ranasinghe who is an old boy of Dharmaraja
College, is a glutton for work and he has been able to make vast
improvements to the club.
He was an outstanding sportsman and in the mid sixties he was
involved in judo, karate and boxing at school.
He is a Brown Belt in Judo has boxed at the Stubbs Shield and also at
the Junior National Boxing Meet along with the Gunatilleke brothers,
Jayasundera brothers - Ananda de Alwis, Nimalsiri Ellepola, A. Moonemale,
to name a few. With the experience that he has gained, Walter Ranasinghe
has been able to make improvements to the Kandy Public Service Sports
club since 2005 and has been able to have regular cricket tournaments,
walking races, bridge tournaments, etc to improve the facilities at the
63 year-old club.
He thanks the former General Secretary D. Ranasinghe from preventing
the club being shifted to another place by speaking to a former
President of Sri Lanka, D. B. Wijetunge.
Walter Ranasinghe is a willing worker and to further improve the
facilities for members, he has initiated moves to have a new block with
the assistance of present senior vice-president Jagath Kulatunge,
Treasurer D. D. Palihakkara, K. A. Sumathipala and other committee
members. |
