Nuwara Eliya road races cancelled
The annual Nuwara Eliya road races organised by the Sri Lanka
Motorcycle Club which was scheduled to be held at the Nuwara Eliya Lake
Circuit today (Sunday) has been cancelled due to unavoidable
circumstances.
This will bring to an end the motor racing activities this season in
Nuwara Eliya with only the Radella Hill Climb and the Mahagastota Hill
Climb being worked off.

Rugby match postponed
The Inter-School Rugby Match between League Champions Kingswood
College and Mahanama College which was scheduled to be played at the
Bogambara Stadium yesterday has been postponed.
Master-in-Charge Rugby at Kignswood College Ruban Jayawardena said
that Mahanama have agreed to play this match on May 3 at Bogambara
Stadium.

Peace Dream Cup Football May 1 to 3 in Trincomalee
FOOTBALL:Sri Lanka Schools Football Association has organised a under
19 inter-school seven-a-side tournament to be played in Trincomalee on
May 1, 2 and 3. It is titled: `Peace Dream Cup’. This tournament has
been brought to harness the goodwill, friendship and understanding among
the communities in Sri Lanka. Minister of Co-operatives M. N. Abdul
Majeed, Peace Dream Foundation and the Universal Peace Federation are
organising this tournament.
Westwood International volleyball champions
Upananda JAYASUNDERA - Kandy Sports Special Corr.
VOLLEYBALL: Westwood International College, Katugastota, Kandy
emerged champions in the All-Island International Schools Volleyball
Championships when they beat Royal International School, Kegalle by 25
points to 14 and 25 points to 22 in the final. In the semi-finals,
Westwood beat Royal English School, Matale by 25 points to 5 and 25
points to 7.
In the other semi-final, Royal International School, Kegalle beat
Unique International School, Kurunegala by 25 points to 21 and 25 points
to 22. Altogether there were nine teams that participated in the
tournament. |
