Mobitel's swift support to control swine flu
Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, Sri Lanka's National Mobile Service
Provider recently came forward to lend a helping hand to the Ministry of
Healthcare in controlling the spread of Swine Flu. As an initial step,
Mobitel will be sponsoring the Health Declaration Forms to be issued by
the Ministry to all in-bound tourists arriving at the Bandaranaike
International Airport.
The Health Declaration Form comes in the wake of the growing concerns
over the A (H1N1) Virus causing Swine Flu. The Health Declaration Form,
issued by the Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry is to be filled out by
all passengers entering the country.
Deputy Director General Health Services (Public Health) Ministry of
Health Dr. Palitha Mahipala commended Mobitel's timely support towards
the Ministry of Health in initiating this vital screening process. "This
is especially a time when the ministry of health is burdened with major
public health issues such as the Dengue-outbreak and the need to provide
special health teams and care to IDP camps in the North. These services
require major financial commitment. Therefore, Sri Lanka Telecom
Mobitel's assistance at this need of the hour is timely. We hope we
could further this partnership in the future" he further added.
Chairperson Sri Lanka Telecom and Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, Mrs.
Leisha De Silva Chandrasena speaking at the exchanging of the agreement
said, 'As The National Mobile Service Provider, it is our duty to come
forward in this time of need to address this National concern and ensure
all steps possible are taken to safeguard the citizens of the country.'
