Dates for Ramazan fast

The Saudi Arabian Government has sent 150 tons of dates for Sri Lankan Muslims for the for the coming Ramazan Fast starting on August 21.

The Republic of Iran has also sent 15 tons of dates to Sri Lanka, Petroleum Resources Development Minister A.H.M. Fowzie said.

The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait too will be sending dates to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the Government of Bahrain will be sending 20 tons of dates.

Minister Fowzie made a request to the Prime Minister of Bahrain during his recent visit to Sri Lanka.

These dates will be distributed to Muslims through mosques in the country under the supervision of Department of Muslim Affairs.
