First innings win for Dharmapala

CRICKET: Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya continuing from 110 for 6 overnight went on to pass the Prince of Wales' College total of 142 by nine runs in their Inter-School Under-19 cricket match concluded at Pannipitiya.

The overnight unbeaten batsman Rasitha Gamage top scored with a fighting knock of 59 runs while Buddhika de Alwis bowled his heart out to capture 6 for 35.

Cambrian in their second essay occupied the crease long to score a sedate 190 for 4 before they declaring.

The Pannipitiya lads facing an uphill task of scoring 181 runs for an outright victory in 23 overs were 105 for 2 at stumps. Thereby making sure to steal the fist innings victory. For the Cambrian Ishuru Madushan 66 and Nipuna Peiris 58 scored pain staking half centuries and put on 145 runs for the fist wicket.

Prince of Wales: 142 and 190 for 4 decl. (Ishuru Madushan 66, Nipun Peiris 58, Shehan Jayasuriya 23, Hasitha Wickramasinghe 2 for 69, Dilukshan Jayasundara 2 for 35).

Dharmapala: 110 for 6 overnight all out 151 (Rasitha Gamage 59, Buddhika de Alwis 6 for 35, Shehan Jayasuriya 3 for 63 and 105 for 2. Nipun Pavithra 33 not out, Rasitha Gamage 29 not out, Tarindu Liyanage 29.
