Nepal following Lanka’s economic development model
Commenting on the commitment of the patriotic forces in Sri Lanka in
extending their solidarity to him to root out the most brutal terrorist
outfit from Sri Lanka, President Mahinda Rajapaksa reiterated that
leaders should always work in unison with the people to rebuild a proud
nation.
Similarly, Nepal’s political problems too could be solved and
effective results reaped with the active involvement of the masses, said
President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the official meeting he had with the
Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar at Soaltee Crowne Plaza last
Friday.
Sri Lanka’s recent economic development, the Nepalese Prime Minister
said, has set a good example to Asia and Nepal too has embarked on a
development drive following the Sri Lankan model. Economic, religious
and socio-cultural relations which existed between Sri Lanka and Nepal
for centuries have to be further strengthened, the Premier pointed out.
Nepal’s current political situation, progress of democratic reforms
and welfare work in Northern Sri Lanka were discussed during the
bilateral deliberations.
Ministers Rohitha Bogollagama, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Tissa
Karaliyadda and Mervin Silva, Additional Presidential Secretary, Gamini
Senarath, Presidential Foreign Affairs Coordinating Secretary Sajin Vas
Gunawardena, Deputy PM. Sujatha Koirala and Nepalese Parliamentary
Affairs and Cultural Affairs Minister Dr. Minendra Rijal were present.
