Moratuwa Undergrads take Stanley Wijesundera Trophy

It was stiff rivalry as Moratuwa University oarsmen out witted Colombo University by 26 points to 16 at the 26th annual Inter-University Regatta between the ocarsmen of Colombo and Moratuwa held yesterday on the Beira Lake (alongside the Colombo Rowing Club) amidst much inthusiasm and excitement.

Moratuwa University carried away the Professor Stanley Wijesundera challange Trophy.

Right at the outset, Moratuwa set a scoching pace by winning the first three events and the final boat race to have a tally of 26 points. Colombo University had to rest content with just 2 events, the A pairs and the B fours that gave them 16 points.

In the Women's Championship for the Lloyd Sirimanne Trophy Colombo University won all five events. (Results Pg.17).
