Karate a life philosophy - Sensei Douglas
The ex-co of the Wado Ryu Karate Organisation which met last week
unanimously decided to promote Karate as a philosophy of life rather
than the popular belief that it only meant about combat.
"Quite contrary to the belief in Sri Lanka that karate is a way of
fighting, the Wado Ryu Karate organisation based at Rawathawatte,
Moratuwa will strive to dispel this wrong belief that has spread among
young students. As it has come down the ages from China and Japan,
Martial arts combatants have throughout the ages have strictly observed
it as a discipline in the broader perspective of meditation and
breathing", observed sensei Douglas Peiris, Chief Instructor of Wado Kyu
Karate Organisation.
He noted that it was unfortunate to see students here doctrined to
draw blood at tournaments.
