ILM to give leadership solution training

The Institution of Leadership and Management (ILM) a body affiliated
to the City and Guilds (UK) was launched recently in Colombo. The Hub
Manager Middle -East and South East Asia Ms. Amanada Kelleher said the
aim of their organisation is to support and develop leaders and managers
around the world ."We offer a flexible range of leadership and
management solutions for practising managers and it's for people who
practise their job.
The ILM was formed in 2001 and its vision is to be a global authority
on leadership and management.

is for people on the job," she said.
The Regional Manager for South Asia for City and Guilds M. Hassim
said the City and Guilds organisation was formed in 1878 and was a
dedicated organisation to offer professional qualifications in the
United Kingdom. The ILM is one of the organisations within the City and
Guilds group and there are many other organisations within the City and
Guilds group.
"We have authorised 500 training centres in one hundred countries and
there's qualification for whatever vocation. The Sri Lanka
Telecommunication is one of the biggest customers where we train 500
candidates a year at training centres at Welisara, Moratuwa, Galle,
Anuradhapura, Peradeniya. We work with the government of Sri Lanka to
introduce English language courses such as certificate, diploma and
other higher qualifications, he said.
The City and Guilds have 3500 international centres and four hubs in
Africa, London, Middle East and South Asia.
The ILM is a subsidiary of City and Guilds. It is Europe's leading
management organisation that partners with individuals and organisations
to help achieve success.

The Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs and the Deputy

said, there are 1.2 million public servants and one out of every 20 of
them is a government servant.
In addition there are half a million pensioners and 1.7 million
persons await for a monthly pension cheque from the government.
However, the pressure was taken off as there are one million persons
employed abroad who remit US Dollars 3.4 million every year.
