Be like Honest
Star
Dear little stars of the nation,
The Humble Star is very happy with the record you have kept on being
very humble in your daily activities. You might have personally
experienced how good it is to be humble. A humble person always
remembers the slogan "Respect begets respect." Well done humble little
stars!
Today you will be meeting another member of the star family "The
Honest Star."
"Honesty"
is another very important quality which all of you should have. There
are many misconceptions about honesty. Many people think that if they
are honest and truthful they will get cheated by others. People are not
ready to be honest because they think that they will lose as a result of
it. But, in reality there are many benefits in being honest.
Always keep in mind that like in the popular slogan "Respect begets
respect", when it comes to honesty too, it is the same; to the extent
you are true and honest, others too will be true and honest to that
extent to you."
There are three different and important areas where you need to be
honest.
First of all you have to be honest with yourself or 'the self'. What
do you understand by being honest with the Self? Whatever you may do,
influenced by external forces, in reality, every human being is a good
person; a lovable soul and a peaceful being. Therefore, due to external
influences, if you get angry or feel sorrowful, that is being dishonest
with the self. To be honest with the self means not to do anything which
will make the self regret and worry. So, always pay attention to
yourself. If something happens you must not get affected by it and lose
your inner quality of happiness.
Always do the right thing, then you will be happy, naturally.Next is
to be honest with your parents, teachers and other adults. You need to
be always honest with them. They are your guides, so you have to be very
truthful with them. Telling lies is a very bad habit. They will lose
respect for you. Telling a lie once will take away the trust adults have
for you, forever. Afterwards it will be very difficult to gain that
trust again. So, even if it is very difficult, teach yourself to be true
and honest with parents, teachers and adults.Being honest with your
friends is another very important aspect. I'm sure you also always
appreciate an honest friend.
Honesty is the base of a good friendship. When you are honest in your
relationships you will never think of cheating your friends. Such people
always win the hearts of others. In general, when there is honesty in
your dealings, there will be a lot of happiness.
An honest person is never scared to do anything right, never worries
about losing his/her good name and image, or is afraid of any
person.Honesty is a beautiful quality to have; at least you can be happy
with yourself for being good.Try being honest (if you are not) and see
the difference.
Here is a valuable quote on honesty....
"Honesty, the quality of being
honest, is a value which can be defined in multiple ways. In the context
of human communication, people are generally said to be honest when they
tell the truth to the best of their knowledge and do not hide what they
know or think.
Apart from being truthful, honesty is
also generally thought to involve abstaining from unfair behaviour, such
as stealing or cheating on a test. It is the quality of being honest.
Youth tells the truth when it is not easy to tell.
No man, for any considerable period,
can wear one face to himself, and another to the multitude, without
finally getting bewildered as to which may be true."
-Nathaniel Hawthorne
Wish you all success!
Some facts about snow
* Snow is a mineral, just like diamonds and salt.
* A snow crystal can be 50 times as wide as it is thick, so even
though crystals can be lab grown to more than two inches across, they
are generally far thinner than a piece of paper.
* At the centre of almost every snow crystal is a tiny mote of dust,
which can be anything from volcanic ash to a particle from outer space.
As the crystal grows around that speck, its shape is altered by
humidity, temperature, and wind; the history of a flake's descent to
Earth is recorded in its intricate design .
* Freshly fallen snow is typically 90 to 95 percent air, which is
what makes it such a good thermal insulator.

* According to Guinness World Records, the largest snowflake ever
recorded was a 15-incher that besieged Fort Keogh, Montana, in 1887.
* There are occasional reports of red, yellow, or black snow falling
from the sky, probably due to pollen, windblown dust, or ash and soot.
* In Antarctica, the hard, flat snow reflects sound waves with
incredible efficiency. Some researchers say they have heard human voices
a mile away.
* Permanent snow and ice covers about 12 per cent of the Earth's land
surface.
* Snow crystals are generally hexagonal and symetrical, but they can
take the form of needles, prisms, bullets and columns
* Dark, dirty snow absorbs the heat rays of the sun more quickly than
clean, white snow, which reflects these rays back into the air. So dirty
snow melts faster than clean snow.Actually, clean snow isn't white at
all. The tiny flakes are frozen, colorless ice crystals which reflect
the light and make the snow appear white. This same principle of
absorbing and reflecting the heat rays of the sun explains why people
wear white clothes rather than dark ones to keep cooler in the hot
summer. |
