Clarification
Reference the news item headlined “Ranil’s plan on Fonseka bared”
that appeared in the Sunday Observer of November 29, 2009, we have been
informed that there was no attempt to drop S.B. Dissanayake’s speech
from the agenda of the National Lawyers Association meeting as stated in
our report.
Attorney-at-Law Upul Jayasuriya said there was also no argument
between him and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe over the allocation of a
speech to Dissanayake as mentioned in the report. Dissanayake was also
allocated a seat at the head table but he was not present at the
function and therefore the question of making a speech does not arise,
Jayasuriya said. We regret the error.
