Help the aged this festive season

This is the time for greetings. You are free to send your heart felt greetings to your loved ones, friends, relatives and all your well-wishers during this festive season and you may be busy selecting the best greeting card during this festive season.

There may be thousands of greeting cards awaiting your selection in the market. But it is time for you to think once, before spending your money on a glamorous and attractive greeting cards to send your greetings to your loved ones and well-wishers.

If you can contribute towards a worthy cause, to provide a meal for a helpless elderly person or extend your assistance for a cataract operation or to have a pair of spectacles for elderly person, through the purchase of a greeting card, it would be a great chance you are getting during this festive season.

HelpAge Sri Lanka a charity organisation committed to improve the quality of life for older persons in Sri Lanka, has presented this chance for the people after releasing 23 designs of greeting cards to sales outlets during this festive season, as a part of its fund raising campaign for the programs initiated to help the older persons in the country.

Through the funds raised from the sale of greeting cards HelpAge can increase its capacity to cater to the needy elders through its, Mobile Medical Units, through its cataract operation centre in Wellawatta and to provide hearing aid equipment and orthopaedic equipment and medicine to elders in need.

Through its services HelpAge had assisted more than 6250 in need of medical care, 4,334 elders in need of eye care and had provided 2,216 pairs of spectacles and to conduct over 1,000 cataract operations.
