Shalika, Lasith help SSC take full control

CRICKET: Two splendid centuries from Shalika Karunanayake (172) and Lasith Fernando (102) helped the SSC take firm control on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'A' match against Baduraliya CC which continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC: 506 (D. Karunaratne 90, K. Silva 38, L. Fernando 102, S. Karunanayake 172, H. Silva 2 for 48, N. Perera 3 for 129, N. Bandaratilleke 2 for 94)

Baduraliya CC: 253 for 5 (D. Vitharana 43, T. Attanayake 53, T. Sampath 62, V. Subramaniam 27, S. Silva 35 n.o, U. Perera 28 n.o., S. Senanayake 5 for 77)

Bloomfield ready for the kill

A fine all round performance from Shaluka Dissanayake helped Bloomfield keep their hopes alive of pulling off an outright victory over the Tamil Union on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'A' match which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield: 195 and 305 for 3 (T. Gunaratne 126, D. Munaweera 54, C. Silva 30, S. Dissanayake 74 n.o., J. Mendis 2 for 98).

Tamil Union: 227 (S. Serasinghe 42, J. Mendis 36, R. Fernando 3 for 46, S. Dissanayake 4 for 50).

Match evenly poised

NCC after having obtained first innings points restricted their opponents Saracens SC to 151 for 4 in their second innings on day two of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'A' match which continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

Saracens SC: 247 and 151 for 4 (K. Alwis 28, N. Abeyratne 46, R. Rathika 51, C. Komasaru 2 for 34, R. Wijenayake 2 for 40).

NCC: 270 (Y. de Silva 66, S. Pradeep 46, D. Chandimal 35, C. Wijesinghe 22, S. Pussegolla 22, A. Perera 40, P. Ranasinghe 2 for 33, U. Varuna 2 for 81, K. Alwis 3 for 33, E. Gangoda 3 for 39).

CCC heading for victory

CCC were just four wickets away from pulling off an easy outright victory over Sri Lanka Army SC on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'A' match which continued at Panagoda yesterday.

CCC: 164 and 264 (M. van Dort 62, C. Fernando 44, S. Pathirana 85, S. Prasanna 3 for 121, R. Palleguruge 4 for 81, H. de Zoysa 2 for 16).

Army SC: 147 and 98 for 6 (H. de Zoysa 22, C. Vithanage 24, T. Mendis 2 for 17, N. Perera 3 for 27).

Mevan blasts Singha attack

Middle order batsman Mevan Fernando hit a fighting century (17x4, 1x 6) as Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC build up a huge overall lead over Singha SC Ambalangoda on the second day of their SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'B' match which continued at Ananda Mawatha yesterday. Mevan and Geeth were involved in a 171 run stand for the third wicket.

Seeduwa RCC: 238 and 279 for 7 (M. Fernando 121,Geeth Kumara 64 R. Dhammika 34 n.o., K. Liyanage 4 for 75).

Singha SC: 164 (Sunil Abeydheera 47, S. Ranasuriya 27, Sampath Perera 20, Umesh Karunaratne 6 for 79, Ranil Dhammika 3 for 46).
