Munchee Volleyball starts January 16

VOLLEYBALL: The Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka has made
arrangements to conduct the popular Munchee National Volleyball
Championships 2009-2010 starting from January 16 next year.
Ceylon Biscuit Limited (CBL) has once again come forward to sponsor
the championship through its flagship brand Munchee.
Minister Dilan Perera, the President of the Volleyball Federation of
Sri Lanka said that in the last three editions of the tournament, has
shown good progress with the increase of over 4,000 teams taking part at
three levels.
The tournament will run from January 16 to mid-March and it will be
played on three levels, Grama Sevaka Division, Provincial and National
Level.
The Grama Sevaka division matches will be played during the last
three weekends in January. Provincial Level matches will be worked off
on February 13-14 and 20-21.
The winners of the Provincial Level will clash with National Level
matches over the last weekends of February.
The final phase of the National Level competition will be from March
8 to 13. The finals will be played (men and women) on March 13 at
National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium at Maharagama.
The men's and women's champions will be presented the Munchee
Challenge Trophies and cash award of Rs. 100,000 each.
A meeting of the District Level Organisers have been arranged on
December 20 at the Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka headquarters at
Reid Avenue.
Entries close on January 9 with the Tournament Secretary, National
Volleyball Championships, SLVF, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.
