Safety, free movement in NE:

TNA, SLMC should be grateful to President - M.M. Zuhair

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) should be grateful to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for ensuring their safety and their free movement in the North and the East, former Parliamentarian and President's counsel M.M. Zuhair said. In a media release on the stance taken by the TNA and SLMC, Zuhair said:

"Today, the TNA, the SLMC and all other political parties are able to campaign freely in the entire Northern and the Eastern provinces.

If Ranil Wickremesinghe who divided this country in 2002 had continued as Prime Minister, the Tamils of the North travelling to the South for their business purposes and the Tamils and others going to the North on business, would have had to get visas, possibly after waiting for weeks in queues. Today, anyone from any part of Sri Lanka is totally free to travel from Jaffna to Kataragama and vice versa without any let or hindrance, thanks to the visionary political leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
