Gnanabiwansa Thera has passed away. The cremation will
take place today, January 10 at Henry Pedris Grounds,
Colombo 5 at 2.30 p.m.

Poll card delivery by Jan. 18

Delivery of official poll cards commenced on January 8 and will be
completed within 11 days, Post Master General M.K.B. Dissanayake told
the Sunday Observer.
Arrangements are now in place to distribute all poll cards among
voters from January 8.It is scheduled to be completed by January 18.

EDEX Expo is the premier event in the field of careers and higher

Christian discourse
A discourse on the doctrine of Christian Liberation Theology
organised by the Kithusara Group will be held on January 16 at the
Negombo Town Hall from 2.00 p.m. onwards.The program will comprise a
poster display depicting the principles of Christian liberation
theology, exhibition and sales of books, newspapers, articles,
magazines, leaflets, audio cassettes and video cassettes.
A documentary film on those who sacrificed their lives and songs
highlighting the fundamental principles of Christian liberation theology
will be sung.The keynote address will be delivered by the Editor of the
Kithusara news bulletin, Mahinda Namal. -LF
2010 - IT Fertility Year

The Postal Department has declared 2010 as the Information Technology
Fertility Year. This will be a continuation of the year 2009 theme which
was 'Information Technology Year', Post Master General M.K.B. Disanayake
told the Sunday Observer.
According to the Post Master General, the aim of this theme was to
increase the usage of Information Technology and provide an efficient
service to customers through the use of computers in post offices.
