Colombo Medical Faculty's three-day Art expo. from
Feb.5:
Sithru 2010
Art and sculpture are the most appropriate media to convey deep
emotions, in such a way that pleases the eye of the artist as well as
others. Art has been enjoyed and loved for thousands of years, in its
various styles and expressions.

The Arts Society of the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo, has been a
group devoted to uplifting the aesthetic talents of medical students for
several decades. It organizes many events annually with the intention of
exposing the hidden talents and enlightening the interest in artistic
work.
The Arts society of Faculty of Medicine, Colombo successfully
organized an Art exhibition "Pahasara" on February 2008.This year they
wish to organize a similar event, "Sithru", an Art and Sculpture
Exhibition.
The Arts society identifies the necessity of such an event, and that
the students should be given an opportunity such as this, for their
talents to flourish, to get it evaluated by professionals in the field
and to go beyond the faculty boundaries. Hence, they have decided to go
forth with "Sithru", art and sculpture exhibition.
Talented artist, a recent graduate of the medical faculty of Colombo,
Dr. Shanaka Kulathunga will display a collection of his paintings and
sculpture along with many other art works of students in the faculty. At
a
three-day exhibition on 5th, 6th and 7th February 2010 at the Lionel
Wendt art Gallery.
The opening ceremony will be at 5.30 p.m. on 5th of February with
Prof. Harsha Seneviratne, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo as
the chief guest, well-known artists Chandraguptha Thenuwara and Jayasiri
Semage will grace the occasion.
The exhibition will be open from 10.00 a.m to 7.00 p.m on the two
preceding days.
