Scramble for toilets at LRH
The Lady Ridgeway Hospital, popular for child healthcare, lacks
proper sanitary facilities.
Ward 4 of the hospital has only three toilets for around 70 patients.
Children have to scramble for toilets which are ill-equipped and often
malfunctioning.
Parents staying with the child patients are provided only a single
toilet. Lack of proper sanitation at the only children’s national
hospital in Colombo is shocking and could pose a serious threat to the
health of children. Repeated appeals made to officials have fallen on
deaf ears. -LF
