Financial aid for needy students in East

Renowned Tamil writer and Chairman of the Lankan Students'
Educational Trust in Australia, L. Murugapoopathy described Sri Lanka as
a paradise and said there was no other country on par with the island
nation.Murugapoopathy distributed financial assistance to needy students
at Vishnu Maha Vidyalaya in Peria Neelawanai, in the Eastern Province
recently. The financial aid was granted by the Lankan Students
Educational Trust in Australia.
Speaking at the event, Murugapoopathy said the war-torn North and the
East were now free of troubles and the Lankan Tamils living in Australia
always wish for peace and prosperity in Sri Lanka. They are always
thinking about their motherland."I have travelled to several countries
in the world. However, I have never come across a country like Sri
Lanka.
"The natural beauty, hospitality and the cultural heritage of Sri
Lanka are unparalleled", he said.The Lankan Students' Educational Trust
was established in 1989. It has so far assisted 300 students from the
war-torn areas in the North and the East.Developing educational
activities and enhancing the abilities of poor students are the
objectives of the Trust. Therefore, the beneficiaries of the Trust must
develop their educational skills and serve their motherland,
Murugapoopathy said.
