'Sebs' records fourth win

St. Sebastians College, Moratuwa recorded their fourth outright
victory for the season when they beat Isipathana Vidyalaya by four
wickets in their inter school under 19 cricket match played at Colombo.
Isipathana resuming at 60 for 2 on day two were all out for 195 runs
leaving the visitors a target of 185 runs for an outright victory and
Sebs notched up the required score for the loss of six wickets.
Highlight of the Sebs secnd innings was a first wicket partnership of
117 runs between Oshada Fernando 59 and Deshan Dias 67.
Earlier Irfan Rahim 43 and Thivanka Ranasinghe 47 excelled for
Isipathana in batting and Amila Aponso bagged 4 for 41 for the Sebs.

Ananda on first innings
Ananda College, Colombo gained an easy first innings win over Prince
of Wales' College, Moratuwa in their under 19 inter-school cricket match
played for "Anuruddha Polonnowita Challenge Trophy".
Anandians who beat Cambrians last year retained the trophy this year
too.
Resuming at 17 for 1 Cambrians were 130 for 5 at lunch on day two but
rest of the wickets tumbled for six runs. Sachitra Perera bagged 5 for
53 for the homesters.
Cambrian Nipun Peiris returned with fine figures of 7 for 78.
Ananda's first innings and Sithum Fernando top scored with 46 runs.
In their second essay at stumps Anandians were 172 for 4 with Madumal
Jayarathne scoring 81 runs.

Trinity win over Maris Stella
A face saving ninth wicket stand of 91 between, last year skipper and
under 19 national youth cricketer Rushan Jaleel (69) and tail-ender
Chinthaka Gokula (35) helped Trinity College to squeeze through to a 3
run first innings win over Maris Stella College, Negombo in their school
cricket tournament concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy.
Rushan Jaleel had 7 fours and a six in his 83 ball knock. Chinthaka
Gokula who took 7 for 60 faced 49 deliveries and hit 2 fours and a six.
Trinitians resuming at their overnight score of 12 for no loss in
reply to Maris Stella's total of 260 were in dire straits in the
pre-lunch session with the scoreboard reading 68 for 5 at one stage and
later it became 133 for 7 wickets and their chances of overhauling their
opponents total looked slim at this stage that the two saviours who are
essentially bowlers Rushan Jaleel and Chinthaka Gokula came together and
saved them with a productive partnership of 91 which would have been
more if the latter had not ran himself out.
Maris Stella: 260 all out and 155 for 2 wickets in 39 overs (Vishwa

A fighting seventh wicket stand of 127 runs between Sandun Sampath
(71) and Dilushan Wanigasuriya (77) helped St. Benedict's College force
a draw to their 89th annual inter school under 19 cricket tournament
match which concluded at Kotahena yesterday.

Denham strokes a ton
Elegant middle order batsman Denham Perera hit a fighting century to
help St. Peter's College force a draw to their annual inter school under
19 cricket tournament match against Royal College which concluded at
Reid Avenue yesterday.
The Peterites who were trailing by a massive 183 runs on the first
innings produced an improved batting performance in their second attempt
scoring 271 for 8 with Denham Perera stroking 111 inclusive of one six
and a dozen of boundaries.

yesterday.

The inter-school cricket match between Dharmaraja College, Kandy and
Nalanda College, Colombo ended in a draw in their inter school under 19
cricket tournament match at Nalanda College ground yesterday. Superb two
half centuries from Sanjaya Kalubowila (70) and Prathap De Silva (56)
helped Dharmaraja College to 201 for 8 in their second innings on the
second day.
Nalanda batsman Nipun Karunanayake scored 900 runs in the current
season.

Superb Bowling by Sachith Jayawardane (5 for 24), Mohomed Ishan (3
for 30) and Dulanjana Wijesinghe (2 for 63) guided Wesely College team
to an outright win over Zahira College, Colombo.
