Francesca on hair fall
by Nilma Dole
Does your hair fall like the
Angel Falls in Venezuela? Is it uncontrollable that you have clumps of
hair attached like parasites in your comb? Are you pretty shocked after
seeing you hair on the floor after you have combed it? Does your hair
electricity give you a hair fall shock?
Hair fall is a massive problem even though the average person sheds a
few hairs every day. However, if it falls at a rampant rate, then you
should beware.
Dr. Francesca Fusco, a New York dermatologist, was one of the hair
gurus who co-created a "hairfall" variant for the Sunsilk brand that is
a Masterclass Hair Fall expert. Even though Dr.Fusco specialises in
rejuvenation of the skin and scalp, treating the signs of ageing,
including wrinkles, brown spots and hair fall, she is one of the few
dermatologists to have expertise in the field of hair.
Speaking about hair getting used to shampoo (which is another cause
of hair fall), she said that you shouldn't always switch brands of
shampoo all the time.
"Shampoo ingredients don't accumulate in your hair, so theres no
reason to make a preventive change," says Dr. Fusco but swapping
shampoos can be beneficial if you habitually use styling products (they
can build up on hair, making it dull) or live in an area with hard water
(which contains high concentrations of radiance-busting minerals).
Alternating your regular shampoo with a clarifying one once every few
weeks, however, can deep-clean hair and remove buildup.
Dr Fusco, who has graduated from New York Medical College in 1985,
trained in dermatology at Westchester Medical Centre. She has been
practising dermatology in New York since 1989 and now runs her own
practice in Manhattan which is a massive success with international
celebrities.
