Cub Scouts holiday camp at Royal College

The 7th Cub Scouts Holiday Camp organised by the Colombo District
branch of the Sri Lanka Scout Association will be held at Royal College,
Colombo 7 from Feb 19 to 21 with over 1,500 Cub Scouts (age group from 8
to 11 years) camping out for two nights and another 500 Cub Scouts
paying a visit to the campsite.
"The Camp which is organized every three years gives these youngsters
an opportunity to experience the great outdoors. The cub scouts, who
take part in this, take with them a vast amount of knowledge and
experience which will be of ample use in their future lives", said
Wathsala Wijewickrama, the Organising Commissioner.
The organisers have arranged a very interesting programme with a host
of entertaining activities for all the participants. Among the
programmes, the cultural show with the participation of the Army
Cultural Troupe, the Rathu Mala (Grand Camp Fire), Exhibition Sri Lanka
and the carnival will be the prominent features.
The Camp's theme is "Caring and Sharing", with special emphasis on
the internally displaced children from the North and some of the
children will be invited to camp out with the cub scouts.
Another significant event is the celebration of the Founder's Day
during the camp, commemorating Lord Baden Powell and his teachings.
