Antonians take major honours
St. Anthony's College, Kandy took major honours in their annual
inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Joseph's
College which ended in a draw at Darley Road yesterday.
The Antonians went on to snatch a close first innings lead while
piling up a huge 305 for 8 in their first innings. The Joes were then
skittle out for just 133 runs in their second attempt with Adel Riyal
claiming a six wicket haul.
St. Joseph's College however retained the 'Murali-Vaas Trophy' by
virtue of winning the 2008 encounter under the captaincy of Ruwantha
Fernandopulle at the same venue.
