Prasanna Batiks was launched as a hobby by the Wickramanayake couple
and today, their son takes over the batik design reins.
Talking about the colour of Avurudu this year, today as the director
of the company, Lishan Wickramanayake said, “The colour for this year is
leaf green which will see many green clothes and garments making fashion
waves this season.” Mixing and matching with various tones of light
green and dark green into something striking is what counts the most.
Prasanna Batiks redefines and restyles their designs every 6 months
with a strong focus about blending the perfect colour combinations. “We
have an upper class segment of the population that we cater to but our
emphasis is on offering the ordinary simple person a fashionable garment
that defines their identity” he said.
They have signature colours asuch as magenta, apple green, orange and
purple where they weave intricate designs in batik that are eye-catching
and easy to wear.
“We believe that our garments should be high in quality and be
comfortable for the wearer,” said Lishan. Further he said, “Most of all,
we have good products at a reasonable cost because we believe that
everyone should be able to afford a quality garment.”
The company has offices at Pettah, Crescat Boulevard and Majestic
City. Prasanna Batiks garments are especially meant to meet the needs of
all ages and different tastes that can be seen with the success of their
company catering to any discerning taste.
“We have plenty of experience because we believe in giving any
customer a first-class product that will last more than a lifetime” said
Lishan. Their batik products are made out of local/chinese poplin,
local/indian voile, viscose and pure silk that are carefully chosen to

Prasanna Batiks trains young batik designers at their factory and
