The UPFA's landslide victory is the result of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa's vision and the development programs implemented islandwide,
said Indigenous Medicine Minister and Anuradhapura District MP Tissa
Karalliyadde.
He said Members of Parliament should follow the leader, President
Rajapaksa in working for the well-being of the people. The people have
rejected some MPs who failed to render any worthwhile service to the
country or at least to their constituencies, he said. Karalliyadde has
been elected from the Anuradhapura district with 55,017 votes in the
2010 general election. He was elected to represent the Medwachchiya seat
held by his kinsman, veteran SLFP Parliamentarian Maithripala Senanayake
for over five decades.
Referring to the low voter turnout, Karalliyadde said the situation
had been created by the weak Opposition. The competition was among the
UPFA candidates and not with the Opposition, he said. |
